RECRUITING: We conducted a recruiting drive at the Annual Hayward Zucchini Festival again this year. The festival was conducted at Kennedy Park on Hesperian Blvd in San Lorenzo. We got one new member from the drive and have a list of interested people.

We are entertaining the idea of awarding a VFW baseball cap to any member that recruits a new member into our Post. This will be a topic of discussion at our next meeting.

ADOPT – A – UNIT: We have submitted paperwork to adopt the 95th CST (WMD), which is located at 1525 W. Winton Avenue, Hayward, CA 94545. Each state has been tasked to have at least one Weapons of Mass Destruction unit. California has two. The 95th CST (WMD) covers northern California. I had an opportunity to work with three of the units members last month and learned that their are 22 full-time active duty National Guardsman in the unit. This unit's sole purpose is to respond to an attack involving weapons of mass destruction. In other words, they exist to protect us and our families from the effects of such an attack. I can think of no better unit to support.

At this time, I am proposing that we conduct a Christmas party for the children of this unit's members. I will be asking our Ladies Auxiliary to assist us in this project. Time is short, so I need your approval for the party, your ideas as to how to best conduct the party, and your help in putting it on. I am also looking for a Santa Claus to hand out gifts to the children.
